ElBaradei: Egypt leader will need opposition help

CAIRO (AP) ? Egypt's leading opposition leader Mohamed ElBaradei says he believes the Islamist president will eventually be forced to reach out to opposition.

ElBaradei, speaking to a small group of journalists including The Associated Press at his home Tuesday, said a deeply polarized Egypt needs political consensus to tackle a burning economic crisis and deal with an angry population that has lost hope in its political elite.

He said so far President Mohammed Morsi has failed to fulfill promises to work with his opponents, saying members of Morsi's dominant Muslim Brotherhood "live in a delusion" that they can rule alone. But he said the Brotherhood is "a minority" and has "no other option" but to seek consensus given the multiple crises.
